    1) Is the AD-Series backward compatible with CM, CL, VIP, and WA products?
Yes, the AD-Series is backwards compatible with CM, CL, VIP, and WA product lines. Any features you have today with a CM, CL, VIP, or WA product will be available with the corresponding AD-Series successor without any changes to your software environment.
Back to Top2) How do I take advantage of the full range of incremental features offered by the AD-Series?
Some incremental features will also be available without any changes to your software environment. To take advantage of the full range of incremental features you will need to upgrade your software platform.
Back to Top3) What types of decorative plates are available?
The following decorative plates are available to retrofit your door prep:
    • Short Plates ( 1" H x 3.5" W): CM, CL, & VIP
    • Medium Plates ( 2.3" H x 3.5" W): WA exterior trim, Best Basis/IDH Max/Wi-Q, Alarm Lock Trilogy
    • Tall Plates ( 7.3" H x 3.5" W): WA interior trim, CM, CL, & Sargent Profile
Back to Top4) What finishes are decorative plates available in?
Decorative plates are available in the following finishes:
    • 630 stainless steel (standard)
    • 605 bright brass (special order)
    • 643e aged bronze equivalent (special order)
Back to Top5) Can you describe the footprint of the AD-Series in comparison to products that are currently on the market
The footprint of the AD-Series is similar to that of the legacy products. In many cases the AD-Series will cover the existing door prep. Should a decorative plate be necessary,. those will be available directly from Schlage in 3 finishes: 630 stainless steel (standard), 605 bright brass (consult customer service), and 643e aged bronze equivalent (consult customer service).

Back to Top6) Where can I find the door template for the AD-Series?
The door template will be posted on the technical documents section on the AD-Series website.

    1) The AD Pricebook and AD-993 Data sheet has a note that says the concealed vertical rod product is for metal doors only. Why is that?

The VD 98/99 CVR on a wood has the vertical rod off center of the lock, closer to the door edge to simplify door OEM prep (routing edge) for rod by door mfg. Unfortunately this offset rod location prevents the installation of AD-series prep. (Thru bolts for lock are perpendicular to vertical rod for device).  Please note that the VD 98/99 CVR device utilized on hollow metal doors is different, in that the concealed vertical rod is center-lined with the exit trim, and therefore is compatible with the AD-Series.

Back to Top2) What is the AD-300 & AD-400 compatibility with exit devices?
AD-300 and AD-400 Networked Exit Trim is compatible with Von Duprin 98/99 Rim, SVR, CVR, and Mortise devices. Compatibility with additional exit devices is not feasible for networked locks because the current for the RX switch differs among competitive brands. In addition, the installation and operation requirements of the low current Request-to-Exit Switch (RX-LC) cannot be controlled among the various exit device manufacturers.
Back to Top3) What is the AD-200 & AD-250 compatibility with exit devices?
AD-200 and AD-250 Offline Exit Trim is compatible with the following:
    • Von Duprin 98/99- Rim, SVR, CVR, Mortise
    • Von Duprin 22/22F Rim, SVR
    • Falcon 25 - Rim
    • Sargent 8000 - Rim
    • Corbin Ruswin 5000 - Rim
    • Yale 7000 – Rim
    • Dorma 9300 – Rim

    1) Will the AD-300 lock communicate with my legacy VIP PIB?
The AD-300 communicates exclusively with RSI protocol, therefore it is not able to communicate to a VIP series PIB.
Back to Top2) Will the AD-Series PIB300 communicate with VIP locks?
Yes, the PIB300-2D can receive either VIP or RSI protocol input from the lock. But, the PIB can only use one of these protocols at a time.
Back to Top3) Can I connect AD-300 locks and VIP locks to the same PIB300?
Yes, if the VIP lock has the ability to communicate RSI protocol to the PIB300.  If VIP locks are older than July 2007, they can only communicate VIP protocol. The AD-300 can only communicate RSI protocol. Therefore the older VIP must speak to a PIB or PIB300 while the AD-300 would communicate to a separate PIB300 respectively.   A PIB300 can only receive one protocol in the same box so both locks have to be communicating the same protocol.
Back to Top4) Can I install a PIB300-2D on the same network was my existing VIP series PIB?
Yes, the PIB300 communicates exactly the same way to the access control panel as the existing VIP series PIB.

    1) Are AD-Series PIM400’s backwards compatible with legacy Schlage products?
The WA-PIM cannot communicate with the AD-400 lock or accessories and the PIM400 cannot communicate with the WA lock or accessories. The WA-Series PIM communicates to the access control panel in the same way that the PIM400 communicates to the access control panel. As a result, the PIM400 can function in your existing environment without any changes to your software. However, the legacy PIM communicates to the WA lock in a different manner than the PIM400 communicates to the AD400 lock and accessories.
Back to Top2) Why are the WA-Series and AD-Series devices not able to share the same PIM?
The AD-Series utilizes newer technology that enables more power efficient communication, AES-128 bit encryption, and Wake-up On Radio (when enabled) for immediate centralized lockdown or unlock.
Back to Top3) Can I connect a PIM400 to the same Access Control Panel as my existing WA Series PIMs?
Yes, you can connect a PIM400 to the same access control panel as existing WA Series PIMs. However, WA locks and accessories need to be connected to a WA PIM and the AD-400 lock and accessories needs to be connected to the PIM400.
